Onward has applied to perform, and will confirm in early 2012. Watch for any announcement.
We are excited to be invited to perform in New Orleans during the Fourth of July Holiday weekend. We plan to play some traditional Indepence Day Music in our traditional jazz style. Come join us. Discounted CD's will be available to all who attend. We hope to be unveiling for display in the museum headquarters the old Onward Bass Drum, rescued on the street after Katrina, and partially restored.
French Quarter Festival has expanded this year to 4 days, and will feature many local Louisiana performers, and is free to the public with stages throughout the French Quarter streets and along the RiverFront. It is a great festival for all ages, including families with children. Visit the website listed. Onward this year will feature some new members for the first time, and continue in the traditional style that has made it a popular band since the 1870's. There will be a shuttle service to the area this year.
It was a beautiful day in Woldenberg Park along the Mississippi river and Onward played for a large and receptive crowd as it rapidly grew, as jazz fans entered the vast area with 4 successive stages presenting various Louisiana musical groups. Several fans second-lined with colorful umbrellas to the tunes, which, to mention a few were Bourbon Street Parade, Down by the Riverside, Closer Walk with Thee-Didn't He Ramble, and Joe Avery's Blues(Second Line).
We hope to return again next year, and many more years to come.
The admission fee is for the complete day--see the website for more information
